5k Finishers!

It was a great day for a 5k. It was 46 degrees and mostly clear with patchy fog. The cold air felt good as we ran. As Perry said, I couldn't think of a thing to talk about for the first 2 miles, but we enjoyed the beauty of downtown, Brackenridge Park, and the interesting Christmas-wear of the other runners.

Note to self: If we do the Reindeer Run next year, we need to dress up!

There were many variations of Santa hats, reindeer antlers, and red-clad runners. One little girl wore white with red tape - she looked like a candy cane. Two women wore jingle bell necklaces, and a tall elf was one of the top finishers.

All-in-all, it was a great race. It was a great feeling to finish at a pace faster than we had run during training. I am so proud of Perry and how far she has come. She didn't give up, and she finished strong. She's a 5k runner now! Go Perry!

We are looking forward to running the Cobweb Chaser 5k on New Year's Day and the 4-mile Rodeo Stampede in February. Go Turtles!
